Rush was our first choice, but unfortunately he's not on all night. We opted for ABC radio, which puts the raccoons to sleep with their every-30-second traffic reports.

The biggest question is what radio show will keep the critters away. My sense is that Rush Limbaugh would work, especially since most of the time he talks about shooting stuff.

You could do what we did when raccoons came a'waltzin' around our hen house ... but then you'd have mutilated raccoon parts strewn around your house, and when they go bad, it smells worse than cat piss.

We too have a cat door, although I installed mine by taking a dull saw and hacking through a hollow-core door. I could have produced a cleaner hole simply by kicking my foot through the door. We have also had raccoon problems. They raided the cat food cabinet which sits above the cat food (and rifled through my wallet). I should mention that we have an electronic cat door that requires that the cats wear a small magnet. To get in the raccoons needed to rip the cat door out of the door. We heard that playing talk radio will keep the raccoons away, so we leave a small radio by the door to discourage them.
